In this paper orthogonal multifilters for astronomical image processing arepresented. We obtained new orthogonal multifilters based on the orthogonalwavelet of Haar and Daubechies. Recently, multiwavelets have been introduced asa more powerful multiscale analysis tool. It adds several degrees of freedom inmultifilter design and makes it possible to have several useful properties suchas symmetry, orthogonality, short support, and a higher number of vanishingmoments simultaneously. Multifilter decomposition of scanned photographicplates with astronomical images is made.
